Fast Eddy - "The Mule" to his closest pals - has locked up the title prior to the final 4. Only the second time that has happened. Last year the Madden / Molz dynasty was the first ever. Thought it would take another 31 years to replicate that feat.

Definitely is the year of the Mule. Eddy gets the girl as noted and now walks away w/ a title like his Stabler-led Raiders of yesteryear!

Eddy's sports knowledge is definitely to be reckoned with. And that knowledge was front and center the first time Iron Mike invited Fast Eddy to the studio to watch NFL on a Sunday. First thing Fast Eddy does is go right up to Big John Madden and starts "chopping it up" on NFL and Raider Football. I knew Coach had solid respect for Fast Eddy when I saw from afar the hand gestures going and Coach w/ a good smile on his face. He either wondered who is this "new guy" who knows every play I called in every game I coached or is he really this good w/ his sports knowledge ? But, the real head scratcher is - who knew he could also use it for March Madness Greatness ?

Congrats to the Mule ! Now take your wining new GF out to dinner other than the Sunshine ! I must say Eddy is out kicking his coverage better than Ray Guy right now.

So, the race is on now for 2nd place and the bridesmaid title. Myers Rum is looking solid w/ his Purdue Boiler makers. But he can be caught by young gun "Willie Wilson" if his Wolfpack can continue to pull upsets. Very doable IMO w / the Big fat ass center they have.

The other young gun Josh "Will It" Wilner can get to 14 points if Bama wins it all (winning team generates an extra point for the champ win) - but Myers with his 14 already would get the tie breaker over Wilner. (Tie breaker goes by whoever your latest round wins are vs the tied opponent. And in this scenario head to head w/ Myers and Wilner - Myers get the tie breaker. Both have 1 win each in the 7th, 6th, 5th, and 4th round - then in the 3rd run Myers has 2 wins to 0 for Wilner. Myers will have that tie breaker.)

3rd place is still open for some Cash.

The payouts are $100 for the Conference Champ. Darren "Rocket Man" Oxe can actually win his Division for $100 if UConn wins it all. But he will not surpass Willie Wilson for Overall 3rd place since Wilson has that tie breaker. And not to be left out - the former 3 time champ Dan "8th Grade All American" Schaefer also has a chance to win the East Division if his Bama team can continue to knock down the 3 ball.

The Payouts

$400 for Overall First
$180 for Overall Second
$80 for Overall Third.

$960 in the pot - $960 paid out.

No Brick award this year.

A note from Tournament Director, Tim Sweeney:

It is with a heavy heart and quite frankly still in denial that Big Red has gone onto a better place. We all have great stories of Red and I'm gonna share a couple w/ you here that I remember.

First met Red in 7th or 8th grade at Pleasanton Elementary on the black top. Red was always a natural shooter. Played a lot of pick-up basketball w/ Red in junior high. Then in HS my most vivid memory of Red was when I was senior playing at AV and Red was a force for the Falcons even as a Junior. That season our AV team was ripping through league play undefeated averaging 71 a game and only giving up 52. We played at FH the last EBAL game of the season and already to go 14-0 in league. Well, Big Red went off that night and the Falcons put a big dent in our quest for a 14-0 EBAL league record. Was almost always automatic from the corners. A lot would have been 3s if they had the 3 pt stripe back then,

Then I heard in Red's senior year again playing against a loaded AV team - he goes off for 26 and his Falcons beat the Dons again. Maybe his nickname should have been "Big Game Red"

As for our March Madness draft - Big Red was at the forefront of our MM for a lot of years. He then had taken a long sabbatical, and I ran into him at a teachers rally at the District office in early February - they had everyone walk in a large circle w/ the signs and chants - etc. Deb was w/ her teaching friends and Red and I walked and talked the whole time. At the end I asked Red if he was going to come to this year's draft and make a comeback. He simply said "I'll think about it" Well lo and behold he came strolling through my side gate on draft night and it was like he had never taken any years off from our draft. He was his usually funny self, and it was so awesome to hang out w/ him that night. It was like old times.

One last comment and this game from Mark Lucas who simply said - "I will just always remember his infectious smile and confident attitude".

We will all meet up w/ Big Red at some point. Right now, he's knocking down 3s in heaven.
